During the month of October, 2nd and 3rd grade students will be creating artwork based on Hispanic artists and culture. First, students will have the opportunity to view and talk about artwork created by Hispanic artists like Diego Rivera, Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo and Pablo Picasso. These are some of my personal favorites! Then, students will choose to create their own artwork representing the style of one of the artists or the Mexican cultural tradition of Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead). Students will make comparisons and connections to their own and other cultures through art. Some of the artwork will be shared at our all school meeting on October 24th! Click on the links on this page for more images and information about the artists and Dia De Los Muertos.
